Frequently Asked Questions
Anesthesia is the controlled, temporary use of specialized medications to block pain, relieve anxiety, and relax your body during medical or dental procedures. Depending on your needs, it ranges from light, conscious sedation (where you feel deeply relaxed, but are still awake) to general anesthesia (where you are completely asleep, feel zero pain, and have no memory of the procedure). Your anesthesiologist will determine the level of anesthesia you will need depending on your procedure.
Is in-office anesthesia safe?
Yes. Your safety is our top priority. We bring state-of-the-art monitoring equipment—including continuous ECG, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and capnography (airway monitoring)—directly to your dentist's office. While your dentist focuses 100% on your dental treatment, we stay right by your side, focusing 100% on your breathing, vitals, and comfort. Our sole job is to ensure you are comfortable!
What is a dentist anesthesiologist?
A dentist anesthesiologist is a licensed dentist who completed an intensive, three-year residency in a hospital and in dental offices. This specialized training focused exclusively on general anesthesia, deep sedation, airway management, and continuous medical monitoring for surgery - both medical and dental. Depending on the state where they practice, dentist anesthesiologists are limited to providing anesthesia for dental surgeries after they graduate from training.
When you arrive at your dentist's office, we will complete a quick exam, review your health history and answer any final questions. Once you are comfortably settled in the dental chair, we will connect gentle monitoring sensors to track your heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen, and breathing. We will then administer the anesthesia so you drift off peacefully. Throughout the entire appointment, we remain by your side managing your airway and vitals, and we supervise your recovery until you are safe to head home with your designated driver.
Patients are required to pay a deposit of $500 to book their appointment for anesthesia services. The cost of the anesthesia is then based on the length of time our anesthesiologist is tending to your care. The deposit goes toward this cost. We accept multiple payment options, including cash, debit card, HSA/FSA card, or credit card. We are partnered with Cherry for payment plans if needed. Please see the For Patients page for more info.
Yes! If your current dentist does not currently offer mobile anesthesia services, we have two simple ways to help you or your loved one get the care you need:
We Can Partner with Your Dentist: We frequently credential and set up mobile anesthesia capabilities at new offices. With your permission, we can reach out directly to your dentist's office to discuss bringing our mobile service to their practice for your upcoming treatment.
Referral to a Partnering Practice: If your dentist prefers not to utilize in-office sedation, we can connect you with one of our trusted partner dental practices in Indiana that already utilizes Crescent Dental Anesthesia. You can receive your treatment comfortably there while keeping the option to return to your regular dentist for routine care afterward.

Having a pre-existing medical condition, such as high blood pressure, asthma, heart conditions, diabetes, or neurological disorders, does not automatically rule out in-office sedation. Prior to your appointment, we conduct a comprehensive medical screening and consult with your primary care physician to evaluate your health history. We then customize your anesthesia medication, dosing, and monitoring protocol specifically around your condition to ensure maximum safety.
